Dad Finds Out Daughter Chose Another Man to Walk Her Down the Aisle, Stops Paying For Her Wedding

After finding out about Tracy’s affair with Stan, her now-husband, he broke up with her. The Redditor and his spouse made the decision at the time to keep their divorce a secret from their kids because they didn’t want them to hold either of them responsible. It never occurred to him that things would not go as expected.

Following the divorce, the children witnessed their father staying in the house and being married to another lady two years later, while their mother moved out. The children saw their father as “the bad guy,” seeing him living a more comfortable life while their mother lived in a tiny flat.

Their mother’s indulgence and their father’s strictness contributed to their misperception. According to the Redditor, Stan and Tracy gave the kids free reign to do as they pleased as long as he made sure the kids turned in their schoolwork on time and met deadlines.

But Michael and Linda quickly came to the conclusion that their father was not at blame. It happened when Michael needed money for college, and Tracy knew the divorce deal included saving money for his college fund, but she hadn’t done so. Rather, she requested that the boy take out loans.

When Linda discovered she needed to have good grades in order to get admitted to her college programme, she came to the realisation that her father was being serious with them. She could see why her father had done his utmost to discipline them. But Victoria, the man’s third child, never came to that realisation and continued to be distant from him.

Victoria’s lover came up to him one day and asked for her hand in marriage. Startled, the father informed the young man that his daughter wouldn’t approve of him approaching him. He was shocked to learn, however, that Victoria had urged him to get in touch with her father. From then, the Redditor recollected:

“She began spending time with me, being polite to my wife, and it felt wonderful to have my daughter back.”

Their rekindled relationship led to the man going to the wedding location and even agreeing to cover the costs. He paid the first installment and put down a deposit on the venue. He had no idea that things would go in a different direction after that.

What transpired following the man’s payment of the wedding venue?

The man soon saw that Victoria was acting differently. She began to ignore his messages, responding to him with a single word each time. She had also ceased to see him often. It wasn’t until Michael provided him a link to Victoria’s Instagram post that the man realised what was going on.

It turned out that Victoria had not invited her father to her engagement party. Additionally, at the engagement celebration, Victoria posted a picture of her daughter with her stepfather Stan, which the man viewed and captioned:

“Fathers can be anyone. Being a father requires a true man. For fifteen years, this incredible man has been my father, even though he didn’t have to. He is indeed a blessing to accompany me down the aisle the following year!”

The father was devastated and questioned his ex-wife about his exclusion from the celebration. Even though his kids refused to talk to him, he had always supported them.

Tracy explained to him that Victoria had not sent him an invitation because she did not want his wife to attend the engagement celebration. She believed the woman would cause trouble during the gathering. The Redditor stated that his wife had never done that before in order to defend her. Another commenter blamed Victoria for lying to her father in order to get money, telling her to cut off communication with him. Because Victoria let the man pay for her wedding without intending to have him lead her down the aisle, the user referred to her as a “bad egg”.
