U.S. Marshalls Hand Delivered A Subpoena To Fani Willis After She Refused To Comply With Email Request

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis failed to respond to a House Judiciary Committee subpoena over email requiring the U.S. Marshals Service to hand deliver it to her personally, according to a report from the Daily Caller.

The House Judiciary Committee previously sent Willis a subpoena on February 2 ordering her to sit for testimony surrounding alleged misuse of government funds. Willis has been accused of diverting funds from other youth and gang prevention programs to cover “frivolous, unrelated expenses.”

“On August 24, 2023, the Committee on the Judiciary wrote to you requesting documents in the custody of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office (FCDAO) relating, in part, to its receipt and use of federal grant funds issued by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ),” reads a letter sent from House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH). “Since that date, we have sent two additional letters, on September 27, 2023, and December 5, 2023, reiterating our requests. To date, you have failed to comply voluntarily with any of our requests.”

Willis did not accept the subpoena through email, forcing U.S. Marshalls to hand deliver the documents to her in-person.

“Why wouldn’t Fani Willis just accept service like everyone else? Making the U.S. Marshal’s Service use taxpayer money to do this is a complete waste of time and resources. But we shouldn’t be surprised when it comes to her office,” an anonymous source told the Daily Caller in response to the incident.

The committee has called on Willis to hand over all documents relating to her office’s use of funds from the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.

Willis is also the subject of a bipartisan investigation in Georgia due to her admitted relationship with Nathan Wade, who was hired as a special prosecutor for her RICO case into former President Trump. Willis is accused of rewarding Wade with lucrative contracts and misappropriating funds.
