U.S. Urgently Recalls Over 6,000 Bags of Lay’s Potato Chips

U.S. Urgently Recalls Over 6,000 Bags of Lay’s Potato Chips

More than 6,000 bags of 13-ounce (368.5-gram) Lay’s potato chips have been recalled

in Oregon and Washington (U.S.) after Frito-Lay issued a recall last month (December 2024)

for certain batches of Lay’s Classic chips. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration

(FDA) has determined that these snack bags pose a serious health risk.

The recall was triggered after the discovery of an undeclared allergen in certain batches.

The company has shared this information both on its official website and on the FDA’s website.

Frito-Lay stated, “Customers who are allergic or highly sensitive to milk may experience

severe or even life-threatening reactions if they consume the recalled potato chips.”

The affected product batches have a UPC code of 28400 31041 and production codes

6462307xx or 6463307xx. No other Lay’s products are impacted by this recall.

On January 27, the FDA issued a Class I recall, the most serious of its three recall

levels, stating that “use or exposure to the violative product could cause serious health consequences or death.”

As of now, no reports of illnesses or adverse reactions related to the recalled products have been reported to the U.S. government agency.
